Brian’s Designations:

CFP - Certified Financial Planner

Brian has attained their CFP® certification, the standard in financial planning, and has been authorized by CFP Board to use the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and CFP® certification marks.

The CFP® marks identify those individuals who have met the rigorous experience and ethical requirements of CFP Board, including having successfully completed financial planning coursework at an accredited college or university and passed the 6 hour comprehensive CFP® certification exam. The exam covers the following areas: Professional Conduct and Regulations, General Principles of Financial Planning, Risk Management and Insurance Planning, Investment Planning, Tax Planning, Retirement Savings and Income Planning, Estate Planning and Psychology of Financial Planning.

CFP® professionals commit to CFP Board to act as a fiduciary, which means acting in the best interests of the client at all times when providing financial advice. They also commit to upholding CFP Board’s Code of Ethics and Professional Responsibility, Rules of Conduct and Financial Planning Practice Standards.

RICP - Retirement Income Certified Professional

The RICP educates professional financial advisors looking to help their clients create sustainable retirement income. The rigorous three course credential helps advisors master retirement income planning. From retirement portfolio management techniques and mitigation of plan risks to the proper use of annuities, employer-sponsored benefits and determining the best Social Security claiming age, the RICP provides a wealth of practical information for advisors.

Certified Tax Specialist™ (CTS®)

This graduate-level designation is conferred upon candidates who complete a 135+ hour educational program focusing on personal income taxes and methods to reduce tax liability. The combined top state and federal bracket can easily exceed 40%. CTS® certification requires mastery of the basic income tax formula and its computation, retirement plans, deductions, credits, capital gains, depreciation, payroll taxes and tax planning. According to IBF, "No one likes to talk about taxes. Most people are intimidated by the subject matter. Yet, tax reduction can be surprisingly easy."

The student must pass two comprehensive exams, complete a written case study as well as adhere to the IBF
Code of Ethics and IBF Standards of Practice as well as fulfill annual continuing education requirements. The
CTS® program is designed for brokers and advisors who have clients interested in maximizing their after-tax
returns as well as reducing their overall tax liability.

CLTC – Certified For Long-Term Care

The CLTC Certification for Long-Term Care educates professionals in the fields of insurance, financial services, law and accounting about the severe consequences and need for care over an extended period of years would have, not on their client, but on the emotional, physical and financial wellbeing of those the client loves. The goal is to give the professionals the proper skill set to discuss those consequences, offer a plan to mitigate them, and when appropriate, recommend long-term care insurance as a funding source for that plan.
